Saturday |
SaturdaySaturday was a relaxing day, although we were up at 5:30 again to go and snuba. Snuba is the same as SCUBA except the air tank floats on the surface in a raft and there is a long hose connected to the regulator in your mouth. We went to Molikini crater which is the number 1 spot in the world to go SCUBA driving. Molikini crater is one of the smaller craters that is underwater and has grown into a coral reef. It is inhabited by lots of sea life including fish, sea urchins, octopus, sharks, eels, corral, etc. It took about an hour to get to and we spent most of that time learning how to SCUBA dive and what not to do. Between the waves and all the things we needed to remember, we were a little nervous about actually doing it. All that disappeared though as soon as we took one look at the world beneath the sea. We could see clearly for about 150 ft under water. Very awesome. We had the opportunity to take underwater pictures and be part of a video. The video came out pretty good. There is a piece featuring the shark, the octopus, and us. Later we spent the day lounging by the pool waiting for the Trades to blow in. More mai-tais please!!! Eventually, we made it up to the Hard Rock in Lahaina. Lahaina is a rocking town that was once the capital of Hawaii. Now it is the place to go on Maui for night life. There are lots of clubs and restaurants, and places to shop and the place is even more alive at night than it is during the day. Music was coming from all directions. The Hard Rock was cool...like they all are. A fine way to end the day. |
