Friday |
FridayFriday was a busy day. We were up at 5:30 again. That's like 5 days in a row this week. It was definitely worth it though. First on the agenda today is Kayaking and snorkeling. The only way to get to where we wanted to snorkel is via kayak. We rowed about 2 miles out. There were giant green sea turtles popping their heads up all along the way and the waves were approaching 10 feet in some areas. The scenery was just awesome. We eventually made it to a little cove referred to as the aquarium. Once we got trained on how to snorkel and got in the water, we immediately found out why they call it that. The water was only about 20 feet deep at the deepest part and it was loaded with fish. The kinds you'd see in a salt water aquarium. Most of the bottom was a corral reef. The beautiful fish were everywhere. After a little while we got back in the Kayaks and headed to where the turtle like to hang out. We managed to get capsized by a wave, that seemed to come out of nowhere. No harm, flip the kayak over, get back in and carry on. We got to the turtle's area, and snorkeled some more. The water was much deeper here but we could still see down about 100 feet. The turtles came within inches of us. They are quite used to snorkellers, they didn't seem bothered at all. Each of these guys went an easy 700 pounds or more. Parasailing Later Friday afternoon we tried parasailing. It was probably the easiests most relaxing thing we did. We started on the back deck of a boat with a harness on then the operator releases the parachute like a kite and up we went to about 800 feet. Then after a while, the boat stopped and the parachute came down to about 4 ft above the water. Just then, the driver hit the gas and popped us back up again. A few minutes later he wound us in like a kite right to the deck of the boat. We never even got wet. Sunset Cruise In the evening we sailed off into the sunset on a 65 foot catamaran with about 15 other people. It was open bar and dinner featuring chicken marsala, mahi mahi, and lots of other good stuff. Entertainment was proved by Capt. Billy Bones. This character played squeeze box, flute, and guitar while singing his own salty compositions about life on the sea. As bad as the music was, we couldn't get "flip flip flippin'" out of our heads the next day. Thankfully, the sunset was spactacular.
